Italy Trip
If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw that I just got back from Italy! My twin sister, friend, and I flew into Rome, Italy and then ended up in Positano, Italy with a couple of stops in Amalfi and Capri. Seriously the trip of a lifetime and I feel so grateful to have experienced the beauty of Italy!
I put up a question box on my Instagram stories, so I will start with that and also include pictures + links to our Airbnbs. You can always send me an email or DM if you have additional questions :)

Q&A:
Can you share a breakdown of how you planned your Airbnbs/food/transportation?
I will first start by saying that this trip was VERY spontaneous haha! We booked everything about 1 month in advance and while that was slightly stressful, everything worked out sooo well and I would do it again in a heartbeat. There really wasn’t a method in our planning, but you can weed out certain things on Airbnb to help you navigate the right place + location + price for you.
As far as food goes, we had a couple of restaurants we planned on visiting, but other than that it was just spontaneous as well! Basically everywhere you walk, you will find a restaurant. I did learn that if you find one that says “trattoria,” it will be extra good + most likely a little more pricey (but WORTH it!)
For transportation, we used Daytrip and it was AMAZING! The drivers are so professional and we felt very comfortable knowing that we were in good hands to get us places. We used them to get from the airport to our Airbnbs and then to get to the train station as well!
Where did you get on the train and how did you book that?
We used the Omio app for our train tickets and it was very easy to navigate! We took the train from Rome to Naples since you can’t go straight into Positano, and then got a Daytrip from Naples to Positano.
We also flew home from Rome, so we got another train from Positano to Naples when the Positano trip ended.
Did you plan the trip yourself or go through a travel agent?
We planned everything ourselves! I actually kinda enjoy the planning process haha. My friend I went with has used a travel agent previously and had a great experience though!
Everything we planned: Flight into Rome (We flew Delta out of Atlanta), Daytrip from airport to Airbnb, Airbnb in Rome, Train from Rome to Naples, Daytrip from Naples to Positano, Airbnb in Positano, Daytrip from Positano to Naples, Train from Naples to Rome, Daytrip from Rome train station to airbnb, & another Airbnb in Rome near the airport for the day before our flight.
Was it easy to find gluten-free choices while abroad?
Honestly it is a little difficult! But there are some great websites that share where you can find gluten free things in Italy. I have been gluten free for 3 years due to a high sensitivity, but have found that I can eat the gluten in Italy since they use a different flour + their food isn’t as processed. I would just be careful, because my sister is the same way and ate most gluten as well, but had a bad reaction to one pizza! Not sure what was different in it, but it’s always good to take precautions. I’ve found that it is definitely easier to find gluten free pasta compared to gluten free pizza!
Did you feel “safe” traveling abroad with COVID still around?
I did! I am fully vaccinated and feel very protected with that. I did still wear a mask inside stores. For our flight into Italy, you either have to provide a negative COVID test or show your vaccination card! But coming back into the US everyone has to get tested, whether your vaccinated or not. My sister and I got a rapid test at the Rome airport before flying home! It was very easy, you just walk up and fill out a little bit of information—no planning ahead needed for that.
Tips for long flights?
Probably not the best person to ask this haha but I just usually watch movies, buy the wifi to be on my phone, play card games, read, sleep, eat ( they provide meals on long flights, which really helps time fly by some!)
Favorite dessert you had?
The only desserts I really had over there were chocolate croissants (SO good) and lotssssss of gelato! The peach gelato in Italy is amazing—it’s actually a pink color instead of orange, but still tastes so so good.
How did you get from Positano to Capri?
We took a boat ride with Positano Boats and it was such an incredible experience! We had 11 people total on the boat, so that was extra fun. We got to stop at the blue grotto and a few other places on our way to Capri and then ended the ride with a jump in the water + champagne. Highly recommend adding this to your itinerary. We also went on a private sunset boat ride tour with BlueStar and that was GORGEOUS!
Would you recommend going to Amalfi, Italy?
YES! We took a bus ride from Positano to Amalfi and it was a very interesting ride with how tight the road is haha, but Amalfi is so fun. You will find ALL the lemon things —there is a place near the water that serves lemon gelato out of a giant lemon and lots of fun souvenirs :) There’s a small beach you can lay out on, and the views are just breathtaking. You can buy bus tickets at little connivance stores—no planning ahead needed for that.
